My 406 Project.

Postby Chad Speier » Wed Jan 14, 2009 6:04 pm

I have ordered most of the parts and have decided on a 4.155/3.750 combo. Going to use the RHS heads (unless the new 230 Pro-Filers get done!! Mike, get on it!). Have another project going with the Pro-Filer 210's also. The goal is 700+ on a really stingy DTS dyno at Matt Driscoll Enterprizes.

I'll post as I go. I ordred a billet cap 4.155 bore Bowtie block, and a 43lb Callies Comet crank. I know, import, but it's not an issue to me.

One thing it will have, ALUMINUM RODS! :P

Large rod journal I assume?

I know you know your Aluminum Rods so I don't have to tell you this but the 2.100 goes in the 1000 series rod. That's the smallest hole available in that rod. (Lost of meat = lots of block clearance cutting and cam issues.)

With a 2" journal you can run the 1500 series and the dividend is almost not clearance issues.

Scott, this is probably the main reason I choose a Comet. It's a 2.0 pin!!

Cool.

I would still take a 2.100 and offset grind it to 3.800 x 2.00 pin but that's just me.

I know, I know.. I haven't ruled out a 4340 rod. I'll be honest, I'm feeling a little guilty with the import crank. However, I feel safe with it...

We are useing a 44lb forged Scat crank in our 700+hp 421. No problems and it is a "nice" looking crank.

Stick a set of those 575 gram steel I-beam rods from probe in it... if they make them for the small journal that is.
