Hello 1320 tech talk I'm Derek I run a small engine building and porting shop up here in the northwest and I am a newbie to your forum so I thought I'd post results of a recent build I did.
I mainly build Pontiac V8's and LS engines but an old friend of mine that's been battling an illness for years wanted my help building a nice budget smallblock chevy for his 80 camero something to put a smile on his face
We had an extremely tight budget which meant we would be using mainly used parts
We started with a 2 bolt tbi truck block bored it 60 over added ARP mainstuds and brought the pistons .005 out of the hole and I did some oil mods as well
We used a scat 9000 lw 1 piece rear 3.75 crank internally balanced
Scat pro stock I beam 6" rods bushed
Probe factory performance series flat top 2vr pistons with the thick ring pack
Summit billit timing set, used canton road race pan, modified melling standard presure standard volume pump
Custom comp hydraulic roller 228i 234e .542i .550e 109lsa 107ilc
Stock gm lifters and dog bones, spider, Smith bros push rods
Lunati voodoo 1.6 rockers
Used 70cc edelbrock performer rpm 185cc heads fully ported by me ended up at 193cc runner
Heads flow 272@ .550 and 227@.550 exhaust wo pipe @ 28" h20 sf600 bench
Port matched RPM dual plane intake with some minor plenum mods
Holley ultra HP 750 and 1-3/4 dyno headers no collector exts
Compression ratio is 11.08:1 we ran it on 91 octane and 34* total
We were hoping for 450hp but were happy to see we made 493hp 491tq and the average power was awesome
This is a very reputable sf dyno I've used for years
Anyways I think for the money involved it did pretty well, we made a couple small changes that should allow us to hit 500hp 500tq I will upload the dyno sheet later
My next street engine will be a 421 using profilers so that's how I found this place

Hp peak was 493@ 57-5800 tq was 491@ 44-4600 iirc
Average hp was 425hp and 471tq from 3500-6000
BSFC was low to mid .400's and we kind of ran out of time, I believe it wanted 35-36* of timing we stuck it at 34* and just had time to get the fueling safe so as usual I'm sure there's more but the real purpose was putting a smile on my buddys face and that was accomplished!
