Induction vs cam

Postby aukai » Sun Dec 25, 2016 2:49 am

I had been trying EFI with various manifolds, and 4 bbl TBs. My last pull was with a Victor ram 2x2k Holley TBs. Motor is a 572 short deck 11:1 street motor, Profiler heads 449 cfm @.800 max power was at 68-7000 rpm. I was told the Victor ram was small for the application. I now have a Marcella sheet metal manifold, so I hope I got rid of any restriction other than the TBs. I would assume I would see more power now, but what about RPM, or are these cams done at 7K? .826/.775, 271/280 @ .05 112 LSA was the cam tested. I had a lobe tracked on my first cam which I have changed back to now, so it has an .826/.775 271/284 @.05 on a 112 LSA in it now.I had a bit of a wait for the manifold, so I shipped the motor home before more dyno pulls. Rebuilding the whole car now, so just curious about RPM while I wait for track testing. Thanks.

I have Induction Control program. I could run it for you and see what Jones recommends.

Thank you Chad, I'm hoping to not need a new cam right now. Just wondering how this cam will do for now, hoping it will hang on in the 7K range. I have it, I'm going to set the car up with this combination, and change when things are more dialed in. It's Harold's cam or I would be asking him.

Thank you very much for taking the time Chad, very informative. It's amazing to me when I talked to Harold that he had a cam in his head to use for the application without going to a formula. I'm sure that the exact cam from the formula will probably out perform his, but he is pretty close. His cam is a .456 lobe 271/284 @ .05 adv 302/312. So I will have to feel this one out for shift points, see what it likes, maybe 72-7500. Thanks again for running the program.
